Mc Donald’s Le Grand Beef Sandwich Reviewed

A single-patty cheese burger on steroid. Lots of steroids. That’s the most accurate way to describe Mc Donald’s Le Grand Beef Sandwich.

I was at the Mc Donald’s at North Bridge road (opposite the Raffles Arcade shopping center), when I noticed that the outlet in question had an exclusive item on the menu: the Le Grand Beef Sandwich.

I was in the mood for a massive cheese burger, with a regal, French-sounding name so I decided to give it a try.

You’d notice that I ordered mine without tomatoes. I hate tomatoes.

You will also notice that the condiments are comparable to a regular cheese burger. The most striking thing about the Le Grand beef sandwich is its size, and its bun. In this regard, it is not dissimilar from Jennifer Lopez. But I digress.

The bun (of the Le Grand) is slightly firmer than the regular Mc Donald’s bun. But besides the texture, there is no discernable difference in taste or firmness. I was expecting a slightly firmer, chewier bun. My expectations were destroyed.

The patty acts a perfect counterpart for the bun. Like the bun, it tastes exactly like its smaller sibling. While the seasonal Prosperity burger uses a patty that tastes noticeably different, this patty is unapologetically unoriginal. It’s just really big.

This is the most filling Mc Donald’s burger I have ever eaten. I found it much more filling than a double cheese burger. Unfortunately, I did not conduct a weigh-in, but if I had to hazard a guess, it’d say the Le Grand Beef sandwich is 175% the mass of a double cheese burger.

The Verdict

The Le Grand Beef sandwich tastes like a really big Mc Donald’s cheese burger. The quality of the bun and patty is comparable to that of a regular Mc Donald’s cheese burger. Despite its looks, it does not taste like a restaurant-style cheese burger. Eat it if you are famished or for the novelty of its size. Its quality does not justify the trip or the expense; the quantity might.

If you want to gawk at its freakish size, head down to the Mc Donald’s at north Bridge Road.
