Kopicino In a Starbucks tumbler?

I love irony. And there’s nothing more ironic than filling a Starbucks tumbler with the $1.60 kopicino from the local prata shop.

But I am not without decency. After all, how could I defile this tumbler on its maiden outing by filling it with a non-Starbucks beverage?

A day after I received the tumbler, I used the accompanying voucher and claimed my ‘hot-beverage-standard’ from Starbucks, a Caramel Macchiato. Starbucks aficionados may now rest easy.

Unfortunately, I was completely exhausted when I awoke yesterday. While most people would be sleeping-in on a Saturday, I had to work. Typically, I have at least 4 hours of classes on Saturday.

I found salvation from my dreary morning slumber in the form of my old advertising favourite, a kopicino.

I handed the Indian man the cup and told him, “Pour my kopicino in here,” as he took the tumbler with a big grin.

As he was preparing my kopicino, a coworker of his had to flick his finger at the tumbler when he was incredulously told by the man serving me, that it was a tumbler and not a disposable plastic cup.

Starbucks tumbler – $15.
Kopicino – $1.60.
Irony – Priceless.

I must say that the $1.60 kopicino looks much more visually stunning than the $6.00 Caramel Machiatto from Starbucks.
