Performance at Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings Annual General Meeting

I recently attended the annual general meeting (AGM) of Ngee Ann Polytechnic Strings (NPS).

It was nice to go back and see the current stable of members. I was quite intrigued watching them practice before the AGM started.

There’s no better way of getting a sense of how strong the players are than by sitting-in during a practice session.

I want to thank the committee for gracously inviting me to the AGM and for James for performing a duet with me as I try to shake off tons of performance rust after a 5 year performance hiatus.

Unfortunately, we were informed that Alex was recovering from a cold and he could not be there. But it was still nice to see so many alumni returning to see how the club has fared.

I’ve heard that whatever standards the 2005 batch  set have slowly eroded.

They have 3 years to develop players. Yet, the guitar side has great difficulty in playing a trio piece that typically takes my students 6 months to learn.

With a new committee, new students relations officer and a new club house, I hope they can turn things around.

BTW, I’m quite keen to see the new clubhouse facilities. House-warming party anyone?
