11th International Guitar Festival 2013 (Singapore)

Thomas Liauw is organizing the International Guitar Festival again, and I am glad to see that it is returning to its classical guitar roots.

There are some interesting artistes coming down this year, with John Mills and Berta Rojas headlining the line-up.

Whereas the 2011 installment was understandably Kohno-centric,  this year’s festival looks to be Ramirez-centric with Amalia Ramirez coming down to to give a lecture on the history of Ramirez guitars. Jose Enrique Ramirez will also be conducting a workshop on the construction and set-up of a classical guitar, as well as how to make a rosette.

Kudos to Thomas for bringing down these major names from the classical guitar world.

The festival is scheduled to occur from 11-15 December at the RELC International Hotel, Auditorium, 30 Orange Grove Road, Singapore 258352.

For more information, check out Thomas’ newly redesigned website. Tickets are available from SISTIC.

December is traditionally a busy period for me, but if my schedule allows it, I’ll try to go down and catch a few concerts, masterclasses and workshops.
